In United States, UK and Australia people are well versed with this software application. But for me, it’s new as I am not a Mac user. So I decided to do a small research on this project. So when I checked the Wikipedia page, this is what I found about Photo Booth.
Photo Booth is a small software application for taking photos and videos with an iSight camera by Apple Inc. for Mac OS X and iOS (although only available on the iPad, starting with the iPad 2).
So if you are a Windows user, we will likely to see about it in another post. Photo Booth is just like a web cam application where you can take a snapshot of yourself or a small video that can be displayed as a thumbnail.
The above screenshot shows the different features of the application. Once you click on the red button below, there is a 3 second delay. After which, a photo is taken or video clip begins recording, depending upon the setting you select.
Effects can be applied by clicking the “Effects” button. You can also apply backdrops. These are some special features using which you can change the look and feel of your photo or video.
This is an online photo booth app for taking photos with webcam and we can create amazing cool webcam effects. You can adjust pictures brightness, contrast, hue and saturation. You can also edit photos online with cool effects. Multi-Frame capture mode is possible. After editing the photos and making effects visible, you can upload those photos to Facebook and Twitter.
Click on the “Get Started Now” button.
This will be first screen if you have not authorized Pixect to access your web camera. The message is clear. Pixect never records you. Your pictures stay on your computer untill you choose to share them.
The first time I faced some difficulties. This is because there was another video device which was choosen by default. So I had to choose my default web cam and then re-open the web page 2 to 3 times, before I was visible.
What are the Options?
So when I clicked on the “camera” icon it immediately took a snapshot of myself.
There are also two buttons beside the camera button. Using these two buttons you could capture the photo after 3 or 5 seconds. There is a new option using which you can take multiple photos of yourself and summarize into one picture.
It’s also possible to change the brightness, contrast, hue and saturation.
What are the Effects ?
They are in-numerous. All you have to do is click the “Normal” button beside the camera button. That will display number of effects possible with Pixect.
You can click on each effect and that will display the photo in that mode. Once you click the camera button, a snapshot is taken. Then you can save the picture with that particular effect and share it on different social network sites.
I really like the simplicity of the software. All you need to capture your image is a web cam. Just connect it to the computer if you are on desktop or it will be automatically detected on a laptop. From there on, just follow the above simple steps for photo booth effects. There are several standard effects like –
- Black & White
- Colored Pencil
- Thermal Camera
- Pop Art
- Light Tunnel
- Fish Eye
and also many customized effects which you would definitely like.
